March is a National Nutrition Month
The author on his previous blog posted that March was a National Kidney Month. This month is also a National Nutrition Month which is celebrated annually. The theme for this year celebration is “Savor the Flavor of Eating Right,” a message of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The Academy purpose is to increase public awareness of the importance of good nutrition. Similarly, the Academy encourages us to take time to enjoy food traditions and appreciate the pleasures, great flavors and social experiences food can add to our lives. Nutrition month focuses on helping people to make correct food choices as well as developing good eating habits. We will live healthy by eating a nutritious food or balanced diet.
The food pyramid will be your guide for the proper nutrition of our body. The six basic food groups in the pyramid are: bread, cereals, rice and pasta; vegetables; fruits; milk, yogurt and cheese; meat, poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs and nuts; and others. By following the Dietary Guidelines, we can enjoy better health and reduce the chances of getting certain diseases.
Enjoy, the celebration not for only this month but throughout the year round.
